what a cute, cute, cute video!! your dogs are gorgeous and so cute!! wow!! more! more! more!!!
Sooo, it's in the genes, or what? But does it make hip displacia worse if you keep in breeding?
Its the genes. Every vet ive been to, and every breeder ive met all say that. A healthy big dog, can still suffer from displacia, but the chance is lower if the parents never had it. More breeding from same parents= all sorts of issues, cancer (had this already with 1 dog) to displacia. Some breeders dont know when to stop. 2 litters is enough from 1 couple.
Hmmmm... What causes displacia anyway?
Its mostly genes, but also the environment. It can be caused by week hip muscles, abnormal femurs and hip joints. A dog without the proper exercise is more likely to get it than an active one. People can have it too, again from week muscles etc...
If you breed a dog that has hip displacia but didn't show any signs it's most likely the pups will have it too, like later in their life?
Thats like saying if your grandpa had heart disease you will. Its genetic, but that doesnt mean its 100% certain pups will aquire it. Checkups, vitamins, and good exercise can help prevent it. Normally your Vet can detect it way before it becomes a problem.
At what age can you tell if a puppy has hip displacia? Like for months, five months? Or can you see it when they are a certain age or what?
I was thinking it was earliest detected at 18 months, but I have seen vets test for it as early as 3 months.
Two things, 1. Im spelling it wrong and 2. Im not a breeder but I have been around them long enough to know this stuff. Anyway, its just like arthritis. Arthritis cant cause it, just make it worse. Basically, if your dog gets it, and surgery cant correct it, its going to be rough times. Its crippling, and hard to see when its full blown.
How can you tell if it's full blown?
what he means is...it's hard on your feelings to see a dog get crippled up
I love the way the older dogs put up with the pup, very patient and loving. Had a freind who has a black, JOe, he got displacia when he was about a year old. Thing is he was bought with some sort of guarantee(dont ask me???), the breeder had to pay for ALL of Joes medical bills,in the 5000 dollar range IIRC, but he is still around, at least ten yrs old now, a bit of a rare case I think. Best of luck with this little guy/girl.
LOL i am with u there
THIS IS SO CUTE! I gotta have a dog, and im guessing from this video that labrador retrievers and german shephards get along well? And i totally agree with what the puppy and shephards are thinking. Cute stuff.
i wanna dog
germans shepherds are scary dogs
My Shepherds are extraordinarily gentle. The one that was "nipping," Cody, never actually touched her with his teeth. They adored her. But some Shepherds are very territorial. They like to shepherd, so they might naturally like puppies.
I love those German Shepherds! They are so beautiful.
And that chocolate lab is adorable.
Thank you! I have to get out there with the video camera again. They are so sweet.
This is so cute and funny! Beautiful dogs too!
That was one rude puppy, you should of let your German Shepards show her some manners like they were trying to do. (They wouldn't of hurt her) Energetic little gal, very cute. Oh and your German's are absolutely beautiful.
So if you have a healthy dog, then when it gets to a certain year of age like ten or eight and if the dog already has displacia can it get worse? What if the dog has arthiritis? Like...In it's legs what will happen then?
Oh I didn't know that, wow. Can dogs catch it still if they show no signs of hip displacia?
browncmp, r u a breeder???
You dont catch it. It happens though, even in healthy dog families. Its just like any disease you or I could get, but genes add more likelyhood. My german has great hips, doesnt mean at age 10 he wont have displacia. Just got to pray and keep him healthy.
looks like koa! (the puppy)
so cute
u go chacolate lab!
